NYC List: Grant's Tomb

Looks like Washington, D.C., doesn't it?  But nope:  this is a piece of American history in uptown Manhattan, the National Memorial for General Ulysses S. Grant.  And another check off the "Must Do Before We Leave NYC List!"

Basically, the memorial is a big mausoleum that holds both General Grant and his wife.  And it has all the typical American-hero-memorial type things in it, like flags and maps and informational plaques.

And domed ceilings,

  ceiling murals,

and a set of coffins in a mildly eerie marble basement area.

Another item checked off (and time is running out - just two months to go!)
